  1. I watched this anime from the very beginning but until now I do not understand the focus, theme, nor where the story is going. Like, who is/are the main enemy/villain? Who was/were the ones tryin to destroy the village of the hero that a master had to sacrifice his life to save it for? the events in the story are quite confusing and don’;t seem to relate and don’t provide a definite direction for the story

    1. Imo this Donghua is for the novel readers. If you haven’t read the novel, it’s very hard to understand the plot, the characters, their choices, and the different philosophies that this novel explores. I imagine even a native Chinese speaker who hasn’t read the novel would feel lost by just relying on the dialogues spoken in the Donghua. The novel is highly detailed, with one of the best world building out there and an unmatched character development. It’s just unfortunate that adapting such a story to a Donghua results in many of the intricacies getting lost so it’s hard to understand or appreciate it for a donghua-only audience.

      1. I’m not a novel reader, didn’t even know there was a novel, but I still can follow the plot. It is difficult, I would say the story is for advance-level people who’ve read/watch/etc. cultivation stories. If so, this story is one of the more deeper and thought provoking stories around cultivating – good, evil, truth, fate, destiny, mortal, immortal, etc. This story is more realistic than others in cultivating in which karma and fate is truly something to be feared and aware of, rather than just a convenient means of moving plot along as done in most cultivation surface levels.

    2. The story revolves around themes of fate, destiny, immortality, cultivation, and life. The MC is not the “chosen one” and lacks cheat powers. He is simply a kind-hearted person trying to survive in a world where non-cultivators are seen as insignificant. Cultivators may not be evil, but their conflicts affect mortals, much like an innocent person who unintentionally steps on an ant. Would that person be considered evil for it?

Despite facing hardship, the MC never loses hope in himself or the world. He continues to show kindness when possible and restraint when needed. This makes him seem foolish to others, but also a beacon of hope in a world that has lost faith in humanity, proving that people can still make the world a better place.

In Season 2, the MC fulfills a promise to his teacher, who sacrificed his life in a political conflict within the cultivation world. The teacher was faced with the choice of sacrificing himself to save the world or letting everyone perish, which would go against his Dao heart of righteousness. In doing the right thing, the teacher found hope in the MC, who showed that righteousness and kindness are not mere acts, but core values. The teacher’s sacrifice ultimately saves the world, and the MC promises to protect the teacher’s school and students.

In Season 2, enemies plot to erase the teacher’s school and students from history. Despite being a mortal and only recently beginning cultivation, the MC offers to escort the students to the capital to fulfill his promise and protect them.

In this episode, the MC meets a demoted mountain god who lost his status and power after the fall of his former emperor. The god plans to use the MC’s group to regain his strength. However, the MC teaches him that the past is gone, and clinging to it prevents growth. The god’s obsession with his past, symbolized by a bamboo garden that once helped him cultivate, limits his view of himself. Once he lets go of this attachment, he is able to see his present reality and understand that he must rely on himself to regain his peak power. The god learns that to return to his former glory, he must focus on the present and let go of regret, rather than scheming to return to the past.

This is a common cultivation philosophy in many novels, but it may be a more advanced concept for some viewers to fully grasp.

      1. Thank you! You just gave a very clear explanation about the story. Perhaps the novel is really much more clear with the story but too bad when put into Donghua anime, it’s somehow confusing to me and also for a few others. Maybe because there are just too many characters involve and there’s no clearer explanation as to who they are before another new character in a new event is introduced. In the end, the events don’t seem to relate. Maybe, just as suggested, it’s best to read the novel in order to better understand the Donghua.

      2. i got enighnted.. i think its better to leg of of my regrets and move froward.. but i wiill not forget the things i want to do!!

      3. I feel like I’ve been following this story pretty well but you just added another layer of perspective, thanks for that and thanks admin for uploading!

    1. its really not that hard to understand!
sometimes philosophy overlaps but doesn’t means its hard to understand!
untie the knot of the first layer and you will understand other knots
