To me they are just helping ye fan to get stronger with a will to live and maybe after ye fan got rid of that curse, he might eliminate that old guys sect members. They are really stupid and certified idiot. Maybe in the following episodes to come maybe ye fan should research about different types of curses and how to counter them and make ye fan even stronger and if possible immune to any curses that would be cool and will be hopeless to his enemies to come.
