Im still confused by this story.. so mc is at level 3 while the threshold of the world is level 10.. is that right? The old man almost broke the rules and regulations of the world to step into level 11, which would cause the world to collapse? Is that what happened?
The ultimate goal is always to be an immortal. There are two paths – marital and spiritual. Currently the path of spiritual focuses on spiritual cultivation while the martial (the old man’s path) is on physical cultivation. Spiritual path currently goes up to the 15 level, with 15 being a ‘sage’ or supreme leader. For martial, it is at the 11th. Current martial cultivators have been stuck on level 10 for ages trying to breakthrough to 11th. Hence, many people have since chosen to go the path of spirtual over martial to attain immortaility. The old man wants to prove them all wrong that martial path can still reach immortality today. But he learns that the current and previous person that reached the level 11th using the martial path, purposely narrow the ‘luck’ or ‘energy’ for those people after him that will try to use the martial path to also attain immortality, making it why no one has been able to reach it today until the old man. However, the old man realizes that there is only enough ‘luck’ or ‘energy’ on the martial path for one person to reach the level 11th and beat down the corrupt current martial immortal god. The old man decided that rather than himself, he will leave it to MC. Plus, politics and such, that even if the old man reached level 11, the other ‘immortals’ and ‘gods’ would not let him live afterwards, and would all attacked and killed him right away anyways along with all those close to him, so it was a losing outcome in any way.
