He was enslaved by Wang Lin with the help of Zhou Yi. He’s the one who saved Wang Lin from the ambush of two Ascendant Realm Cultivators back on planet Suzaku. One was from the Snowy country, another was from the Blue Ogre clan (not sure about that anymore). They ambushed Wang Lin and made him not able to use many things. Good thing Sun Tai was able to come in time to save Wang Lin from them.
Now, when he was fighting, the Blue Ogre used his special skill, like a Warping Skill and that made him travel to this Luotian Star System, leaving Wang Lin and his special demon body — which was used to revive Situ Nan.
Those two were not even Ascendant at that time.. they only at Soul Transformation.. that time only ZhouYi at Ascendant level… since WangLin is only a Deity Transformation cultivator the arc also involve the 13th vermillion which was onlyn the ascendant together ith some few master at same realm but lower level (1st time appearance)

I Think they are Snow Elder/Sect Master and The Giant Devil Clan Ancestor (Blue Giant).
Those two collude to take down WangLin.. both of them were at Mid or Peak Soul Transformation that time while Sun Tai (Corpse Yin Sect Grand Elder) was only at Initial Early Stage Soul Transformation and thats why he ran for his life because he can’t srsly fight and deal with those two not only even at the same level but also 1-2 Level higher at same realm.
During that time, WangLin was only at Deity Transformation.. Early or Mid-stage so while Sun Tai was fleeing with Early/Initial Soul Transformation he had to seal WangLin to become Mortal so those 2 (Snow Master and Blue Giant) can’t detect WangLin being mortal because he got no cultivation.
The Ascendant Cultivator shown or appear in future should be only the 13th Vermillion(Great Cycle Perfection Stage) from vermillion Planet and Zhou Yi (Initial Stage) and later on a little bit was the other sect master/elder etc. at Ascendant (Initial Stage and/or Mid-stage).

sun tai at that time was late stage soul transformation not weaker then his opponents . who were early stage soul transformation. the only reason why he was cautious in fighting them was due to the giant demon bloodline race ability which just warps people to far places

If I remember correctly, Sun Tai is the Corpse Sect Elder who had a contract with Wang Lin (Zeng Niu) to protect WL during his visit to Immortal dimension in our MC’s first planet, Suzaku (Vermillion Bird Planet). It was where the Celestial being is there, where he got his Celestial weapon, the red one.
Did his cultivation drop? I thought corpse sect leader was on par with sword sect leader.. they were after the celestial being and ascendant guarding her.. or maybe just on par with snowy and blue guy elder..

If I were not mistaken, The Old Man was a Soul Transformation Grand Elder from Corpse Yin Sect (Sun Tai) then caught Deity Transformation WangLin from the secret realm of (Senior Zhou Yi) for cultivation opportunity then Zhou Yi caught both of them in that place.
WangLin with Sun Tai then made them to choose by ZhounYi to take a risk but Sun Tai cant take afford risk so Senior Zhou Yi favored Wang Lin because he accepted. Senior Zhou Yi then planted a seal to Sun Tai to protect WangLin for years because that time WangLin was weaker than SunTai to shoulder the task given by that Ascendant Senior.
